Privacy Policy

LinkCrate is operated by Arun Raghavan Menon ("I," "me," or "LinkCrate"), an individual based in Kerala, India. This policy explains what information LinkCrate collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. This is a good-faith, plain-language policy for a small, independently-operated app — not a substitute for legal advice.
Information I collect
- Account information: your email address, and — if you sign in with Google or GitHub — your name and profile picture as provided by that service.
- Content you save: the URLs, notes, and any pages you save, plus AI-generated metadata about them (topic, tags, summary).
- Guest accounts: if you use LinkCrate without signing up, a temporary anonymous account is created automatically so you can try the app. It has no real contact information tied to it until you create a real account.
- Payment information: if you upgrade to Pro, payments are processed entirely by Razorpay. I never see or store your card, UPI, or bank details — Razorpay handles that directly.
- Basic usage data: aggregated, non-identifying analytics (via Vercel Analytics, which does not use cookies or track you across other sites) to understand how the app is used.
How your information is used
- To provide the core service — saving, organizing, and letting you search your links.
- To classify and summarize links you save, a saved link's URL, title, and any note you add are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Anthropic processes this data to generate the response and does not use it to train models (per Anthropic's own API terms).
- To send account-related emails (email verification, password reset) via Resend.
- To occasionally tell you about product updates, if you haven't opted out in your profile settings.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
Who your information is shared with
I don't sell your data. Information is shared only with the service providers that make LinkCrate work, each acting as a data processor:
- Anthropic — AI classification and search (Ask).
- Cloudflare — thumbnail image storage.
- Railway and Vercel — application hosting.
- Razorpay — payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Google and GitHub — only if you choose to sign in with them.
Some of these providers process data on servers outside India, including in the United States.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: at any time from your Profile page. This permanently deletes your saved links, folders, and account data.
- Email preferences: turn off product-update emails anytime from your Profile page.
- Access or correction: email brainopediaconsultants@gmail.com to request a copy of your data or ask for a correction.
Cookies
LinkCrate's web app stores your sign-in session in your browser's local storage, not cookies. Vercel Analytics is cookie-free by design.
Children's privacy
LinkCrate is not directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, I'll post an update here and note it in the changelog.
